Curbside Recycling in the City of Atlanta
If you live in single family residence or a multi-family dwelling with five (5) or less units in the City of Atlanta, you are eligible for curbside recycling pick-up. The City of Atlanta provides curbside recycling collection every week. By recycling at home, you will divert a large amount of your waste.

When is recycling picked up?
Effective the week starting July 9, 2018, the City of Atlanta's 4-day quadrant pickup schedule has changed to a 5-day schedule. To determine your pickup day, please check the City of Atlanta's Solid Waste website and enter your address.
What can I put in my bin?
All items listed below can be placed in the same container. All materials are sorted later at a Materials Recovery Facility or "MRF". Additionally, check out the City of Atlanta's Solid Waste Site for additional info: City of Atlanta's Solid Waste website.
What is NOT allowed in the bin?
Where does my recycling go?
In November 2016, Pratt Recycling was awarded the City of Atlanta's recycling processing contract. Your recycling is dropped off at a transfer station and then transferred to Pratt Recycling's state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Conyers, GA.

- Aluminum cans
- Steel (tin) cans
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastic: all hard food containers and plastic bottles: #1 - #7 (Check bottom of containers for the number.) – NO plastic bags, NO hoses, NO pipes or wiring, NO furniture, NO extruded polystyrene, also known as Styrofoam
- Newspaper
- Mixed paper
- Office paper
- Junk mail and envelopes
- Magazines and catalogs
- Cartons and juice boxes
- Telephone directories
- Paperboard (cereal boxes, tissue boxes)
- Shredded paper tied in a clear plastic bag
- Flattened cardboard
What is NOT allowed in the bin?
- Hazardous waste: Spray or aerosol cans of any kind and paint cans, motor oil, bleach bottles;
- Plastics with no recycling numbers or a #"8" or greater.
- Drinking glasses, mirrors, window glass, ceramics such as plates & coffee mugs, pyrex dishes, china, light bulbs, and any other non-container glass
- Packaging materials like “peanuts”, tissue paper, plastic bags, or polystyrene
- polystyrene (styrofoam)
- Food contaminated items like pizza boxes
